Consignment Convenience We at Formalities know how exciting it is to find the dress of your dreams. We also know that the expense can be tremendous this is why we are now offering Consignment gowns in our shop.
If you have a wedding gown you would like to consign, please note we take clean dresses only that are no more than 3 years old. If there is dust around the hem, that may be okay, since most gowns are hemmed by the bride who purchases the gown and the dirt may be altered off. A full inspection of the gown is done when you bring it into the shop. If your gown has been cleaned and preserved in a box, please note we do not take the boxes. Please give us a call in advance, to schedule a time to drop off your gown. Due to Saturday being our busy day selling your gowns we do not accept consignments on Saturday's. How Consignment Works at Formalities The purpose of this Web page is to help potential consigners understand Formalities terms and conditions (all of which are formally documented in our Consignment Agreement which consignors sign at our store). - Mothers' Dresses
Shop at our Showcase of Sale Gowns! Items We Do Not Accept: - Old Wedding Gowns: We typically do not take wedding gowns older than two years.
- Bridesmaids' Dresses: We typically do not take bridesmaids' dresses on consignment. However, if you have a group of three or more bridesmaids' dresses and none has been worn or altered, we would consider selling them on consignment.
Consignment Period and Pricing: - If we accept your items, we will carry them in the store and attempt to sell them for a period of twelve weeks (3 months). For the first 8 weeks we will agree to sell your gown at your requested and contracted amount. After that, we will lower the price at our descretion.
- You pay a $20.00 one-time fee per consignment agreement.
- Together we will determine the asking price for each item, based on condition and our best assessment of resale value. It would be a good idea to bring your sales receipt if you still have it. This will help guide you to an asking price.
- Items will be sold at the full asking price for the first eight (8) weeks of the consignment period. Thereafter, items may be reduced for the remainder of the consignment period at the discretion of Formalities.
- Formalities and you will split the proceeds 50/50, and you are paid monthly.
Other Policies and Guidelines: - All clothing must be dry-cleaned, the cost for which shall be borne by you.
- At the end of the consignment period, it is your responsibility to notify us as to whether the items will be picked up or may be donated. Any items not picked up by you 14 days after the end of the consignment period will become the property of Formalities.
- While we will take all reasonable and necessary measures to prevent loss, theft or damage to your items, our consignment agreement will expressly relieve Formalities of any liability for any such loss, theft or damage.
Feel free to stop by anytime during normal business hours—no appointment necessary: ~ Monday 10-3, Tuesday – Friday 10-5 and Saturday 10-4. While Formalities is open Saturday from 10-4, we do not take consignments on Saturday.
